An Unprecedented Moment John Marx 2020

We are

in an unprecedented moment

where one dire phenomenon

is creating

a ripple

across the entirety of the earth.

It is a BIG ripple,

It has our attention.

This moment

when, we will all feel compelled

to work together

when, heroic acts of kindness

both large and small

will emerge

(and acts of cowardice too)

when, we all pitch in

“to get the job done”

with a newfound sense

of balance

between self

and world interest.

If, in this moment,

when whole of the world

toils in mutual accord

we can see how deeply

we are in this

together

and if this crisis

can create an enduring bond,

that transcends

our petty differences

that forged in the fires

of a real common need for survival

we can start a journey

towards

an embodiment

of compassion and care…..

then

We might have a moment

of real progress

of real movement

towards an enlightened humanity.

Imagine

what we might achieve

together

if our hearts stay

open

and

once the panic is gone

We can inspire the world sing

with a resonance

that has never been heard before …..
